Should I make a new default world or a new build world?
Worlds in 1.3
I'm upgrading to 1.3 at the momoment and I'd like to know what you guys thing about a new world for 1.3.
I want to make another world where established players can go to do standard survival play (outside of the challenge). I'll call this the Build world. The Default world will be the one that new players start in. Now, here's the confusing question:
Do you want to keep the current Default world and have a new Build world, or do you want a new Default world and the current map turned into a Build world?

As much as I love my current tree, I think I would enjoy a new world...

I'm of mixed feelings on this subject. I love my old tree, but I really wanna make a new one too, just not sure what type or style. Lol.

any news on the worlds? sincen im new, i think id kind of like to be on the same page as everyone on a new map. lol

In case we get the new 1.3 default world, will there still be a "standard survival play" world? Because sometimes i just want to explore the world without the rules. I'd like something like the skyland portal we have now. For example with iron blocks instead of diamond which lead into the "new world".

Well, a mushroom is at least roughly comparable to a tree... Snow... Not really.^^

There will be a standard survival world either way. I just want to know if people want the new map to be for it, or for the default world.
We'll also keep the current world, either way. It will just be used for whichever world isn't the new one.
Only people who have made a well-established tree in the default world will be able to get to (or at least build in) the non-challenge world. I just figure that a standard play world will help to keep people here when they start to get bored of the challenge, but the server will still mainly be a challenge server. Maybe it will be less empty this way.
Edit: And the non-challenge world will have an inventory separate from the other worlds, so nobody can cheat for materials. I guess we'll have to make a new market there. I might even enable the money system for it.

EDIT: And i would like to point out that mushrooms aren't even in the same species group as trees and fungi are not plants.

But mushrooms at least resemble living things while snow is just a bunch of crystals.

Plus, it would look rather awkward for snow lanes to go through a desert, if that is even possible... And you'd have to live in total darkness since torch and glowstone light melts snow and ice.

EDIT: and it also looks akward for wood lanes to go anywhere.

This also is why you probably should be more open minded about non-tree people.

On the new map, is there any way u can add our biome to our tree titles? For example, I'm an oak tree in a swamp, so I would be "swampy oak" or something like that. That way there will be less general "oaks"

Ok, the maps have been changed. All who didn't get to share your preference in the polls... too bad, you should have been paying attention. The poll ran for 4 or 5 days.
I'm still working on getting everything setup for the build world (figuring out how to let only some people get there and back, and doing permissions), but the regular world is ready for trees.

Adding biomes to the names would make things overly complicated. I already have to have different permissions groups for the current names, and adding more groups just to add biomes for every tree type would make it like 8 times as complicated.
The more admin stuff I have to do, the less time I have to play, the less fun I have, the more likely I am to just abandon the server altogether. That's why I say I'm a bad admin; I really only run the server for myself. Besides, my heart hasn't been in it since Syhd left. I only try to keep people happy so at least a few will hang around and I don't end up just playing by myself... I don't want to be alone.
If one of the other admins wants to set up and manage challenges and such, I'd be all for it, but it's all I can do just to keep the basics running.
I'm sorry if I seem unpleasant. It's just that the past few months have been rough on me emotionally. Nothing against you.
