So, when are we going to update?

So, ya know, 1.5 came out a long time ago...
And the server is still 1.4.6...
When's it gonna update?

That was my question. I updated and now I can't get on. Silly me.

I suppose I don't mind if we have to have a new map, but I would love to get a few good screenshots of my tree at some point.

I also wouldn't mind if we changed maps, it would actually motivate me to play in fact. Also, I think advertising the server would be fine, as long as the amount of players doesn't exceed the available slots in the server.

Which, as I have noticed, has increased to 40 from the original 20. Unless that's just me.

I like that motivation you've got going Shadow XD I would love a ton of new players, more people to chat with, and less of a lonely feeling on the server

1. The latest recommended build and beta build for bukkit are still 1.4.7. Check out dl.bukkit.org
A lot of plugins only support recommended builds and haven't even updated to the 1.4.7RB as of the last time I did a round of updates a week or two ago. Portalgun, for example, is broken again so leather boots don't act as long fall boots anymore.

2. As you guys may have noticed, I'm not on much anymore. Life keeps me pretty busy, and vanilla minecraft has gotten boring for me, anyway.
If someone wants to step up and do some actual administration, I don't mind if you guys want to advertise to get more players, but remember that that's likely to introduce a few people who are not all that wholesome. Whoever steps up will have to deal with that, as well as getting all the new people set up with groups and area protection, and learn how to keep secrets.
A lot goes on between people behind the scenes where most people (except admins/mods) can't see. Letting some of that out can be really hurtful. Also, a lot of updates introduce bugs that people like to exploit. MCMMO used to have a bug that basically let anyone dupe certain blocks. I learned about it pretty quickly, but kept it quiet so it didn't unbalance the game for everyone. By the time it got patched, only one other person here really understood it's potential and he didn't abuse it. I also showed Blazin how to farm flowers with it, but I don't think she realized what it could be used for. Secrets and discretion.

3. The server hasn't had any upgrades. The increased number of player slots is just a setting that got changed with some update somewhere along the line. Probably of the administration panel, McMyAdmin. I don't think the server has enough memory to handle more than 8-10 people at once before it overloads. I just haven't bothered to change the setting back because we never see that many people, anyway.

This time, I am being serious. I don't take these things lightly when they're needed. I bet I've joked around "Oh I'd be AMAZING admin, spawning items and such" but that was all lies.
(Mostly. Nah, wouldn't do it for anyone.)

It'd be nice for a fresh map, because if we get new players, they won't feel pressured for an amazing tree.
So, in all seriousness, I could do it. I have the 1.4.7 backup, actually, if anyone wants a copy. They can also go here to the mojang website for the prerelease (which is the same as full). Also, I would recommend Aiko, but having two admins/mods/whatevers who bicker a lot could end badly.
(Just kidding. Just keep that spawn items thing under control. O.o)

Well, as long as I can sneak in a few screen shots of my jungle tree before we make a new map (if we do) I'll be happy. I'll make giant stacks of dirt off root to do so, like usual.

I think advertising sounds good at this point. I would offer to admin, but I don't have the time to be on often (though I have a couple days this next week because of spring break minus work). I will offer help to people when I'm on, but otherwise I would be pretty useless in the admin department. On the other hand I usually drop by the forum at least once every two days or more. So if people have questions and post here (if it's not something really technical) I will answer them.

I would take a position of responsibly, I fell I have matured since the time I stopped regularly playing on the server.

If we get a new map, I'll try to be on more. I would like to be a mod, but I'm not sure I'd be ready for the responsibility. Also, I'm sorry for not having been on much at all, real life and FTB have taken much of my time.

Personally, I'd say most people who went on for a long time would be great at mod or above.
