So, the silver bell tree is not as inspirational as I thought it would be to build with, so I'm thinking that I'm going to be moving shop and try out a new tree. I want to hear people's opinions on my move and any suggestions they have for new locations and trees. I'm thinking I might try out the orchard tree or something, but I wanna hear other suggestions too.

I personally like trees that are both useful early game, pretty, and don't look the same as the trees around them. Place wise, I prefer lusher, pretty areas. You might want to check out the jade island thing I had/was on.

I'm having fun with the Maple Tree.
I really like the red leaf blocks, it's creating a warm feel when I run around in them.
With some exceptions I've been primarily using the planting of saplings to expand territory on the surface.
I've been keeping the canopy this creates intact while knocking out the side leaves where desired. This has created an inside my home tree feel, despite the growth going sideways.

Also you could also play with the "Force Tree"
(Gold bark, Gold Leaves, with ambient sparkle effect. Quite different from the normal trees. It seems to have healthy drops and grow rate)
You strike an Oak sapling with a Force rod (easy to find materials for) and you have a force sapling.
I was disappointed that it only works on oak saplings. I was hoping to be able justify using Red and Gold logs/leaves interchangeably.

Also Maple grows similar to oak. I:E it grows fine bunched up, with high drop rates and a healthy grow rate. It just doesn't EVER create a big maple. 2 sizes, short trunk taller trunk.

Here are some screenshots. I'll post more later as more of a tour.
Most of my place is utility, just starting to really divert resources to aesthetics.
Also I've only been bothered by 1 hostile mob, a creeper showed up when Oceanous was on at the same time last night.
But I already had a fenced in area so he could do nothing. (so no bonemeal yet)

Screenshots: (So you can see the trees)

The Force Trees: (I'll give you a starting sapling if you want one)

Sorry about the angle, but I didn't see a better spot, they are growing relatively near my heart log and it's more crowded in that area.

Well, I've decided to go with the apple orchard tree. Worked on it for a couple of hours, getting tired. I will post my coords up at some point. If I get bored I'll transfer back and forth between my two trees, making sure to keep their inventories separate.
