Going Dormant Empty Going Dormant

I'm posting this on my last day of Summer.. School starts for me tomorrow! I have been told recently by my parents, that I have been spending too much time online.. They have restricted my computer usage to an hour a day for a month or so, and than an hour and a half a day for the rest of the time I spend living in this house. This means that I'm not going to be online as often as I usually can be. I'm hoping this ends (Even though I was told it never will), because I'm going to miss you all. I've started to think of all of you as extended family... Smile This is Hidey, saying goodbye, at least for a little while

It's probably for the best, anyway. I'm doing sort of the same thing. It's so easy to fall into a life online and forget reality. That's part of why I'm making efforts to socialize in person, now. I hardly even get on my own server.
I guess the tree spirit in me mostly died when it was forsaken by Syhd; all that's left is the roots. Hopefully that's enough to finish my Reminiscence topic in the journal section. I started it around the same time I asked her out, and I've not been able to get into it to finish while I've been dealing with stuff. I'm afraid it's going to have quite a different slant to it than I originally intended. It'll be about the same stuff, but I have a different perspective, now. It's odd how the present can change the past.

Anyway...
Enjoy your time away from the computer, and don't spend it all in books. Go out and be with people even if you aren't doing anything that really seems to have much point. This stuff I'm going through now has taught me that the meaning of life isn't all about who we are to ourselves; it's about who we are to each other. I began to have an inkling of that when I joined treecrafters and found a community to be part of; this was the first place that I really connected with people, and it felt good. But now that lesson has really been driven home since I've lost what I found here. Save yourself the pain of having to learn the hard way like I had to.

Today I met a couple of guys from the Middle East -- one from Iraq and one from Saudi Arabia. We'll be conversation partners for this school term so they can improve their English. Both seem to be good guys. I'm looking forward to learning about their cultures and teaching them the good points of mine. And who knows, maybe we'll even become friends.
